The original Wolfburn distillery was built in 1821 by William Smith, and was operational for around 30 years before closing. The current Wolfburn distillery was built as close to the site of the original as possible, just 350 metres from its ruins. Distilling began there in January 2013.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis was intended to be the distillery's special release for the Highland Whisky Festival in 2020.
