Wolfburn 9 Year Old 2023 Anniversary Series Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 70cl, 52.3% ABV
To celebrate Wolfburn’s 10th Anniversary they have created a new collectors’ edition: the Anniversary Series. As their first ever distillation took place on 25th January, each bottling will be released annually on Burns Night with 2023 being the first. Each edition will be a single cask.
Consisting of just 680 bottles, the 2023 single-cask release has been matured for over nine years in an ex-Oloroso sherry butt, no. 2013#691, laid down in October 2013, and which had previously been used for finishing, but never for full maturation. The result is an exceptionally sweet whisky with a magnificent depth of flavour, rich in colour, warmth and vibrance.
Wolfburn distillery is the most northerly on the Scottish mainland, located in the town of Thurso. The original Wolfburn distillery was built in 1821 by William Smith, and was operational for around 30 years before closing. The current Wolfburn distillery was built as close to the site of the original as possible, just 350 metres from its ruins. Distilling began there in January 2013.
