Laphroaig Elements L1.0 is an innovative, non-chill filtered Islay single malt Scotch whisky bottled at a robust 58.6% ABV, serving as the debut release in Laphroaig's experimental Elements series. Produced using 100% Islay-grown malt (Concerto and Optic) and matured in ex-bourbon casks, this release explores distillation-stage variables rather than cask finishes—combining vintage 8.5-tonne and modern 5.5-tonne mash tuns with a 50/50 blend of cloudy and semi-cloudy wort to amplify both tropical fruit notes and phenolic depth. On the nose, it offers bonfire embers, smoky bacon, sea salt, strawberry jam, and charred pineapple. The palate yields a peppery, full-bodied balance of tropical fruits, wintery cloves, and licorice, leading into a long, warming finish marked by lingering peat smoke and soft maritime sweetness.
