Exploring The Silent Irish Coleraine Distillery
The Coleraine Distillery, founded around 1820 in County Derry, Northern Ireland, originally converted from a mill near the River Bann. In1 954 it added a Coffey (column ) still to produce grain spirit alongside its malt output. During the 1960s the focus shifted more to grain whiskey production. In 1972 Corporate consolidation placed it under Irish Distillers, and by 1978 the distillery permanently closed. Its name survives as a blended whiskey brand, though the original buildings are mostly demolished. We are very fortunate to have one of the few remaining 34 Year Old Bottles distilled in 1959
